While heading out with my son to start our day, I was halted by the wailing of a kitten. I quickly stopped the car and traced the sound to my tire, there was a kitten trapped behind my tire! I grabbed a tire iron and jack to remove the tire, and that was then I saw the situation was worse than I expected. The kitten's back legs were stuck in the brake pad.
The cat was feisty and angry, and I realized that I needed more help, so I called the fire department for advice. A truck was dispatched from fire station no. 5 and arrived quickly.
The firefighters knew exactly what to do and quickly removed the tire. One brave hero held the frightened and fierce animal while another began taking apart my brake pads and calipers, while the other two secured the vehicle from accidental falling to protect the cat, the rescuers, and the growing crowd.
The kitten was safely removed and taken to a local animal rescue.
My thanks go out to everyone at Station no. 5 in Fresno!
